The rehearsal for this big day was extraordinary because these kids are extraordinary. Who thought there’d be tears? The big splashy kind that roll all the way down to your chin.
She looked perfect in her hand-me-down dress and her too-big shoes.
Her veil was just right.
Second grade? All grown up? How is she mine?
The singing made the whole day. The prayers and the hand-holding and the Hallelujahs. I cried it all out at the rehearsal and besides, little baby Andrew was getting a big annoyed at the whole thing and made us all work extra hard to keep him quiet, all while letting out some super loud grunts and grumbles loud enough for Father Steve to invite him to join the choir.
God Bless Emily and her cousin Tommy. It was a glorious day and we are so fortunate to be part of such a wonderful church parish. I can finally call St. Mary’s home now. It’s where we belong. Thanks for making our day so special everyone.
