New York City? With a baby? Without Chris? Yes. It can be done. Especially if you bring an amazing friend along with you to join in on all the fun, right Viola Cay?
So we mosied our way down to NYC last Thursday morning to attend Sweet Suite 2014 and Blogger Bash in NYC. You know how it goes – bloggers, brands, swag, networking, cocktails, food, fun and all the rest. And heck, I’d be stupid if I didn’t snag a fancy 2014 Toyota Highlander to get us there. And I’d be even more stupid if I didn’t stay in swank NYC hotel whilst away! We were just two country bumpkins ready to see what Sofitel had in store…
Ok, the ride. OH EM GEE. That Highlander might not have enough room for all of us Stows, but it sure was comfy for Sharon, Andrew and I. The sunroof is rather large, the leather seats were so comfortable for the long ride and I love everything about the dashboard – especially the shelf for phones and the USB plug. I mean, so 2014!
We may have gone over 2 bridges, whoopsie, but we finally made it after a bit of afternoon traffic on some small, crazy NYC road. Who knew? We had our GPS turned on, working, but then we somehow lost her!? Did I shut it off? Did we lose her when we stopped to pee (4 babies people – I can’t hold it like I used to). Oh and a word of advice for those tollbooths. Maybe you should put a sign up SOMEWHERE about the PRICE of the toll. Seriously. Even just a tiny one would do. Those are some expensive NYC bridges.
We finally parked our fancy little Toyota in the LAST SPACE in a super close Icon garage at 43rd and. I still can’t get over this number system. 43rd and? Everyone just shouts out these numbers and everyone knows where everything is, well, relatively speaking. I wish I was good at it. I just knew Sofitel was at 44th and. I couldn’t remember the rest of anything. I knew I had to remember it too. Whenever I said 44th, at least I had Sharon to count to yell out the rest of our numbers.
We were just a block away from Sofitel NYC.
The smell of that lobby. Mmmm. What the heck do they do? It smelled heavenly; like a French rose garden, all the time.
Upon check in, I was notified of an UPGRADE. Seriously? Seriously. Love that word.
16th floor: Room 1422. What a treat! I was expecting NYC small. Instead, we got a whole lotta big!
Baby crib, check. Baby products for bath that I didn’t give, check. Bose stereo, check. Tons of space for clothes, check. Big comfy KING bed, check. Happy country bumpkins, CHECK!
We had so much room in that suite it was totally ridiculous! Enough room for a large stroller, and then a second stroller at the end of the second night! Yup, two strollers for one baby. Oh, the life of a blogger. Oh and a pull-out couch? I swear we could have had the entire Stow AND Reilly clan up in that sitting room! It was so lovely to have that space, especially considering all that swag we ended up with after the conference.
Ok, just watch this video and check out the room for yourself, will ya?
We were so spent after Sweet Suite and all the walking and UBERing, however, we still found time for a glass of wine downstairs. Andrew even snagged a cute lil teddy bear. Sweetness.
The kid loved the place. We all loved the bed the most. That bed. That duvet. Sometimes I think we belong in Europe.
Sofitel is right in the heart of NYC. You’re close to Broadway and Bryant Park. You can walk anywhere. Even with a stroller and a baby. Even with two strollers and one baby! We had so much fun. I need to go back soon. I can’t imagine the fun that could be had in that city with just the grownups. Someday.
Breakfast was amazing at Le Pain Quotidien. Just ask Viola Cay. She’s totally responsible for that awesome.
Got a hotel recommendation for NYC? Let us know in the comments. You can’t go wrong with Sofitel!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary and reduced rate stay at Sofitel and enjoyed a week test driving the all new 2014 Toyota Highlander. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
