Last Sunday marked our little Andrew’s first birthday – the same day we actually celebrated with family and friends in true ELMO style. I just can’t believe my littlest dude is ONE! The big ONE.
Could we pull off another ELMO first birthday celebration without Grandma’s presence? Could we manage the cake all by ourselves while she and Granddad were sailing and sunning themselves in Menorca? You betcha. I married her son, who she raised RIGHT. Mr. Stowed Stuff can do just about anything and I will take NO CREDIT. None.
Ever since Emily, we’ve had an Elmo themed first birthday celebration. My go-to cake mold has stood the test of time and has been borrowed time and time again to friends who fall in love with our cakes. Who doesn’t love Elmo?
Let’s get back to the birthday boy, shall we? The kid is awesome. Andrew James Stow keeps us all laughing and loving and smiling on a regular basis. Whether we’re home on the couch, at church or at the grocery store, the kid sure can put on a show.
Andrew’s One Year Stats

Weight: 21 lbs. 12 oz. (57.6%ile)
Head Circumference: 19.25 in. (98.6%ile)
Does NOT crawl or cruise (He’s a STOW!) Instead, he scooches on his butt to get around.
Says Dada, Mama, Nana, Hi, Ya, Milk (signs), Hi, Bye, and is constantly chattering away.
His intonation of “Dada” is down pat – he can have a full on conversation with anyone using just “Dada!”
He’s still reacting to some DAIRY and is fighting a constant battle with eczema.
He has tried meatloaf, spaghetti and meatballs, milk, eggs, waffles, pancakes, yogurt, potatoes, roast chicken dinner, macaroni and MORE!
He’s still nursing.
Takes two naps each day – one is typically far better than the other.
He loves singing and dancing and clapping (especially at church).
He has EIGHT teeth – four on top and four on the bottom!
He’s a biter and a clucker.
He’s a really good kisser (comes in fast for slobbery love bites).
He’s not a fan of cake – even ELMO cake.
