Disclosure: I wrote this post as part of my participation in a blog tour for The Motherhood on behalf of the makers of Children’s MOTRIN® and received compensation to thank me for taking the time to participate. However, all opinions expressed are my own.
Everyone keeps asking, “How do you like being home?”
“Do you miss work?”
“How are things going?”
My answer is probably obvious, right? “I love it! No time to really think about missing work. The days are chock full.” But holy heck, honestly, all I keep asking myself is, “How did Mom do it?”
Yes, the mornings are rough and chaotic, but just as expected, the afternoons are just as crazy. And I do know, it’s only going to get worse. Crazier. Yes, I know. The shuffling, the carting, the sports, the appointments – THIS FAMILY!
My mom never complained while she was in the thick of it and most of us don’t either. The sacrifices we make, the constant decision making, the guidance, the conversations, the choices – Mom, why didn’t you ever warn me? Why didn’t you ever complain? This isn’t just about diapers and cute outfits. Parenting is so much more. So. Much. More. Four kids for life – forever mine. My responsibility.
My mom is my unstoppable mom. Nothing ever got her down and no one ever got in her way. We always had fun and she loved me like no one else. She taught me right from wrong and expected me to always do my best. She did it all and it only took about 30 years or so for me to realize the tremendous job she did raising all four of us Connelley kids. Holy heck, Mom – I’m still in awe. We chipped teeth and broke bones too. We played sports, danced, threw up, got in trouble, went to CCD, got bathed, ate dinner, went on vacations, disobeyed, didn’t eat our dinner, spoke back, complained, had good days and bad, – just like the rest of us. But you NEVER stopped. You never ever stopped!
I love you, Mom. Thanks for everything. Every. Single Thing.
I got to join forces this fall with Children’s MOTRIN®, who are intrigued by all things that us Moms do, from entertaining the kids on rainy days like today, to carting everyone around to where they need to be after school and everything else in between! I’m a part of their #UnstoppableMoms Team and they want to hear from you too! What are your tricks for being #unstoppable? They’re looking for tips in five categories: Meals, Kids’ Activities, Shopping, Household and Me Time.

Here’s my most recent #UnstoppableMoms clip from the makers of Motrin®. Grocery shopping with the kids? Nightmare-ish, right?
As Mom’s we really do DO IT ALL! And you’re right…it will only get worse with the carting around and all the social “stuff”, but it goes quickly…and you do miss it when it’s all said and done. My oldest is in 2nd year of college and the youngest graduates HS next year. It’s going to be really quiet next year!

I love the Unstoppable Mom campaign….it is such a good reminder of all that moms do everyday. I admit that it made me do a lot of thinking about how my own daughter might describe me when she gets older — I suppose we all dream of our children seeing us as unstoppable, right?

That was a sweet write up about your Mom. I never heard my mom complain until now that I am older. But she never stopped either.
