Tonight marks a very big night for Emily and me. We are having a girls’ night out and we’re hitting up the Boston Opera House to see the opening night production of The Nutcracker! I haven’t been to the Nutcracker in years – I actually can’t even remember the last time I went to any ballet! We are both so very excited and I’m eager to see it through her eyes too! The Boston Ballet’s production of The Nutcracker is always a holiday favorite and it’s sure to put us both in the Christmas spirit starting tonight!
I danced in Jose Mateo’s production of The Nutcracker when I was in sixth grade and I remember all of it so fondly – the try-outs, the rehearsals, the costumes, the choreography. I was a toy soldier and I’ve told Emily about it thousands of times. There’s nothing quite like the magic of The Nutcracker and for me to have a daughter who is just so taken with dance makes it all the more special for the two of us tonight.
Here’s the top ten reasons to see The Nutcracker this year.
And here are some images that are sure to give me the goosebumps tonight:

I will take my daughter to see the nutcracker. We have seen Boston’s before and it was beautiful.
I would take my daughter Hannah as it has been a few years since we’ve been and she is always asking when we can go again. Each year, some of her friends dance in the Providence Festival Ballet performance and we have gone a few times to cheer them on but seeing it in Boston would be a special treat.

We love The Nutcracker! It’s an annual tradition in our house and we always see the one done by The Washington Ballet because it includes a bit of DC in the classic holiday story like the monuments and cherry blossoms!

We LOVE The Nutcracker. When I was a little girl, my parents used to take me to see it every Christmas, and just last weekend, they started a new tradition by taking my kidlets (and us parents) to see it as a family. SO MUCH MAGIC AND WONDER.
