Holy heck, it’s over. It was tiring, but it was also memorable and way fun. As I type this, Emily is still dancing her heart out at the Dance Olympus workshop with the folks that put on the competition yesterday in Brockton. She gets to spend the day with their instructors learning new choreography and improving her technique. I’m sure she’ll have lots to show me when she gets home (if she’s still standing!)
Emily is part of a dance team at Elite Dance Center who proudly took home two second place awards for the two dances she was a part of. She’s THRILLED to be able to compete again next month, this time getting the chance to perform her solo at Spirit of Dance! Although she’s exhausted, she had tons of fun spending the weekend with the team and getting all fancy in her pretty costumes. The one below is my absolute fave – Let’s Go to The Hop! Get a load of those lashes!
I’m learning a lot as I go. This is Emily’s fourth year of dance, her third year at Elite, but her first year on the dance team. We wouldn’t be doing this if she didn’t LOVE it. And besides, it’s her thing. She’s actually really good at it. I know I’m her mom, but I look at her and swell up with pride every time I watch her dance. She was born to dance and built to dance. She’s got these beautiful long lines and it just seems to come naturally to her. She’s a talented little thing – so graceful and poised.
And although my attempt at bouncy curls was a complete failure with those spongy foam curlers, she looked the part yesterday. I totally get an A for effort. Couldn’t have done it without the much appreciated help from the other dance moms and the older girls. Thanks a bunch. Yesterday was awesome.
We celebrated with a late lunch at Bertucci’s and dessert at Orange Leaf. Well done, Em. I love you.
