I’m pretty obsessed with the new University Station in Westwood, MA which offers up a new shopping and dining destination to the folks who live south of Boston. I had only been there once and was dying to get back, so when Bonefish Grill invited me to come taste their menu and experience the new restaurant, I simply could NOT RESIST!
Not only did we get to test out a new restaurant, but we also got to test out a new amazing baby-sitter. The kids had a blast while Mr. and Mrs. Stow got a much needed date night in! It was a fantastic night for all of us!
The new Bonefish Grill, located just across the street from the shopping plaza at University Station, just recently opened on June 1st and is now serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. They are well known for their wood-grilled fish entrees and finishing sauces, so how could you NOT order seafood, right? Plus, their specialty drink menu is out of this world amazing. So much so that Chris is the one drinking a signature martini with an orchid in it. We don’t get out much, do we? It even matched his shirt.
We started off with their signature starter, Bang Bang Shrimp. It’s served crispy with a spicy sauce. We were unsure of just how spicy the sauce would be, so we ordered our sauce on the side. Turns out that we LOVED it and will definitely let them drizzle that spicy sauce all over our shrimp next time. You must try the Bang Bang shrimp. YUM.
Chris can’t go anywhere without getting fresh oysters on the half shell. It’s like the one thing (ok, I don’t eat Sushi either) I don’t eat. He devoured his oysters in seconds.
For dinner, I had Sockeye salmon which was topped with spinach, gorgonzola cheese and bacon, served with mushroom ravioli and sugar snap peas. It was de-licious.
Chris had the Misoyaki Chilean Sea Bass grilled over oak and he loved it.
Let’s talk about dessert. I love any restaurant that has Key Lime Pie on the dessert menu. Whenever I see it, I always save space. Chris got the Summer Berry Shortcake, served on a homemade sweet, crumbly biscuit. Both of our desserts were heavenly, but mine was better.
Our service was impeccable and we found the restaurant to be modern and chic. It’s definitely a great restaurant to try if you are looking for some fun cocktails, great food and something new and different. Plus, with Nordstrom Rack right across the street, you’ve got something to do after dinner! So many shops to peruse at University Station!
Another great part of our dining experience was the water service. It may sound funny to talk about water, but we were served a large carafe of water and a plate of fresh lemon that was left on the table so we could refill at our leisure. We loved how this eliminated the need to ask our server for refills. Simple and genius if you ask me!
Oh, and the bread. Warm, sliced bread was served with pimped out oil for dipping. I’d go back for the bread and water! I love the restaurants that do bread right.
In all seriousness though, you will love Bonefish Grill. I hope you have one in your area you can try out. Chris and I really can’t wait to go back. Our fish was so good. Our entire experience was top notch and we both highly recommend Bonefish Grill as your next dinner date destination!
