What a show it was! We loved Elf the Musical!
Based on the hilarious Christmas classic that we all know and love, Elf the Musical will not disappoint! Both children and adults will really fall in love with Buddy and all the jokes and sass that this production has to offer! Chris and I could not stop laughing.
Buddy, played by Eric Petersen, stole the show for me. What a hoot. We loved his perfectly large personality – a perfect fit as Buddy and we loved watching him fall in love with cute little Jovie, played by Veronica Kuehn. What a big, beautiful voice on tiny Veronica.
Of course, Elf is full of talk about the Christmas spirit and “believing” in Santa, so if you’re like me and cringe at the thought of introducing the kids to the idea of NOT believing when they’re still little, then this might not be the show for your kids. Do keep that in mind. You can’t fast forward a live show. I remember being so nervous about movies that discussed “belief.”
However, if your kids can handle it and you aren’t worried about that sort of thing, this show is terrific. We brought the three bigs and they totally loved it! We all thought the first half was the best, action packed and fun. After about an hour and 20 minutes of running time, there’s a brief intermission and the show ended around 10pm. It was a little late for Mr. 5 year old, but he survived and enjoyed being treated like one of the bigs!
I especially loved the sets and the way the scenes changed so seamlessly. The North Pole is totally awesome, as in NYC. And those elves dancing on their knees – amazing!
