Last weekend, after finishing up our gigantic painting project in our master bath, Chris and I went out on a well-deserved dinner date to Bonefish Grill in Westwood, MA at University Station. And we couldn’t have asked for a better place to splurge on our “health kick” – seafood is good for us, right? Well, we did have dessert too.
Of course, heading out on a Saturday night on a whim with no reservation meant we had to wait at Bonefish Grill once we put our name in with the hostess. But it was totally ok because we headed over to the bar and ordered up some wine. Did I mention we cheated on our “health kick” that night? Well we did. I had three glasses of wine in all! YIKES!
But not only did we have wine while we waited for our table. The hostess was passing around their famous Bang Bang Shrimp for folks to snack on while they waited for their table. I thought this was a really nice touch. Something I had never seen before at a restaurant! We were hungry, so we dug right in to those bad boys. We LOVE their Bang Bang Shrimp – of course we ordered our own once we got our table.
I must also mention that we had the most attentive and friendliest waiter – an Irish lad – Sean Francis M! He deserves a shout out for his amazing service. I am always so impressed with good wait staff, and Sean was beyond good. He was dynamite and took such good care of us. This is something we always look for and are so appreciative of, especially since we don’t get out that often! Thanks for being awesome at your job, Sean!
So we noticed that the menu at Bonefish Grill is pretty much the same as it was in May when we were there for the first time. The winter menu items were actually just part of the specials – so after we devoured our Bang Bang Shrimp, with sauce on the side, we were both brought yummy winter seafood specials! Don’t you love those wine glasses?
Chris ordered the Crab Crusted Pompano, which is a firm white fish. It was dusted with garlic and crab crumbs and topped with a dollop of crab meat. It was cooked in a white wine lemon butter sauce. $24.50
Mine was a little bit prettier on the plate. I chose the Swordfish and Pumpkin Ravioli. It was delicious. I loved the pumpkin raviolis and couldn’t finish mine, leaving a little for Chris to taste. He was happy he got to taste mine too. My fish was topped with feta cheese, crispy onions and truffle butter and served with French green beans. I LOVED my dish! $22.75
We were sort of bummed to miss the Lobster Stuffed Shrimp appetizer and that’s all because we were being impulsive with our Bang Bang Shrimp. We just couldn’t pass it up! But we’ll have to go back and taste the Lobster Stuffed Shrimp next time!
We decided to share
our my all time favorite dessert – I guess we weren’t that stuffed! We go crazy whenever we see Key Lime Pie on a dessert menu! It was yummy.
Overall, we enjoyed our night out at Bonefish Grill. Chris thought his fish was a little bit lacking, but we both loved the Swordfish! We can’t get over the passed hors d’oeuvres as we waited to be seated – a really nice touch!
The bar staff were friendly and attentive too. We’d definitely go back again, but we’d probably make a reservation to cut down on our wait time. But again, we didn’t really mind waiting – the atmosphere is so pleasant, we had cocktails and we were away from the kids! Our night out was awesome. With such impeccable service, it hardly feels like a restaurant chain!
