Having a child with a tree nut allergy is plain scary. I never ever ever thought I’d be on this side of the allergy fence. As a teacher, I know how serious allergies are and how important it is to keep all children safe while they are at school. Now as the mom to a two year old who has a life threatening allergy to tree nuts, I’m worried more than ever about keeping kids safe when they are at school! This is an awful territory to navigate and a very scary one too!
I know it can be hard to find snacks that are safe to send to school. That’s why I’m excited about the new, easier to read labels on products at BJ’s Wholesale Club. For one, being able to buy snacks in bulk is awesome when you have four kids. But I’m also loving how they’ve simplified their allergy labeling and have so many snacks that are marked as peanut and tree nut safe!
Kudos to BJ’s for recently helping shoppers find allergy safe snacks easier. On their own Wellsley Farms label, allergens now stand out in bold. There’s also a bold sentence indicating if an item contains allergens or if it might contain allegens because these were present in the facility where it was produced.
I recently shopped the club and stocked up on my own allergy safe snacks for school. Check it out!

Yes! We have peanut, banana, and shellfish allergy in our family. We always send snacks to school because there’s always a chance that bananas will be served. Most people aren’t as aware of the banana allergy. Thanks for the list of things and bringing awareness to food allergies.
Our kids aren’t allowed nuts at school so we have gotten extremely creative.
Lots of fruits, lots of veggies with hummus and cheese and crackers.
We read the labels too just to keep everyone safe. I would hate to be the reason why someone got so sick!
My children attend a no peanut school. Thankfully we don’t have to deal with that scary allergy. But I am happy to work with the school to keep everyone safe!
Love your list! So important to give kids with allergies, products you trust 100%!
I am a lucky mom who doesn’t have any kiddos with allergies, but I can only imagine how scary that is! You just don’t know what they will be exposed to anywhere, especially at school. I try to be very aware with snacks that are sent to school!
Really informative and wonderful bodily structure of written content, now that’s user pleasant (:.
