Today, I dropped the kids off for an overnight stay (or 2) with the grandparents. Need I say more? Here’s what I’m trying to conquer on my to-do list. Yes, the little guy is still with me – of course! But it sure is delightful around here. I think I might pour myself another cup of coffee and STILL manage to fall asleep…
The angels are singing and I’ve caught myself belting out Hal-le-lu-jah at the top of my lungs. Grandparents are SO GOOD. I mean, legit, mental health goodness. So good.
What Should I Do?
Get new eyeglasses and sunglasses (forget the eye appointment, who has time for that? I should be good for another few years, right?)
Clean the basement
Go to the car wash
Sell the crap in the basement on Craigslist
Go to IKEA
Get my stuff out of my office at school – remember, I’m not going back to work. Say WHAT!?
Go through the millions of bins of clothes in this house and get rid of some stuff
Take a shower
Answer some emails
Write some blog posts
Order some photos and get them on the walls in frames
Write some thank you notes
Go to the movies
Take a nap
Get my eyebrows waxed (and apparently my mustache too, thanks Emily)
Get a hair cut and color
Write some pitches
Pay some bills
Watch TV (do people still do that?)
Go to the grocery store
Go for a RUN
That’s my list. It’s amazing how much you can’t get done when all four kids are around and asking for snacks every 8 to 10 minutes. I hope Grandma has a lot of snacks. Guess where we’re going on date night? Yup, you guessed it. And I don’t even have to drop anyone off in the play area! Back to IKEA! I can’t hardly wait!
What would you do without (most) of your kids around? I really should wax the eyebrows, however, Emily did mention that duck tape does a fine job of pulling your hair out too. And it’s a lot cheaper. Hmmm.
