Let’s face it, we’ve all been there – chatting away on Facebook with a friend in Facebook Messenger and maybe having a conversation that you want to remain PRIVATE for so many reasons. Have you ever had too many Facebook Messenger windows open at once and accidentally typed in the wrong one? Ya that? It’s so embarrassing when that happens – so I’ve heard.
Ok, so yesterday I was chatting with my husband while he was at work (shock horror, I know. Is he going to get fired now?) Anyway, we were talking Christmas gifts and sharing links. We know all too well that one of the kids in this family likes to pick up my phone and start using it at her own free will. Often times, she comes running to me yelling “PHONE!” or tells me “I’m messaging with Daddy!” or I find out she’s sent 378 Facebook Stickers to one of my friends in a message box. Facebook stickers are amazing by the way. You need to send a few. My current favorite is SON OF A NUTCRACKER from the ELF stickers. Amazing.
So after our Christmas shopping conversation on Facebook, Chris said, be sure to delete this conversation. I was all, “GENIUS IDEA! But how do you even do that?”
So here are the directions step-by-step so you can delete conversations from your Facebook history too! Here’s how you do it! It’s quite simple!
- From your homepage, click MESSAGES on the left hand side of your homepage (in the margin).
- Open the conversation you want to delete.
- From the actions menu (looks like a wheel on the right hand side of each thing you said) select DELETE MESSAGES.
- Use the checkboxes to select the messages you would like to delete permanently.
- Click DELETE!
Note: Deleting a message or conversation from your inbox won’t delete it from your friend’s inbox. It isn’t possible to delete sent or received messages from a friend’s inbox, so be careful as to what you say, my friends! Talking on the computer is like sending a postcard, really. Just be mindful and play nice.
How easy was that? So simple, right? Now that kid I know will have no idea what we’re up to anymore. Unless, of course, she reads this post. Crap.
Kids, nothing’s ever easy. But at least now you know how to delete a Facebook conversation! Happy chatting!
