November is here, one of my favorite months for so many reasons. I remember the anticipation of waiting for my first baby’s arrival – those long drives to work, admiring the reds and oranges of New England and ticking each day off the calendar, wondering which one she would arrive on and whether it’d be a girl or a boy. Such wonderful memories and the reason why I started writing a blog.
And Thanksgiving will soon be upon us, which is by far my favorite holiday since it requires nothing but food and family. I mean, c’mon. The colors, the aromas, the beauty of November really gets me good. And it’s so important to reflect and be thankful. We have so much to be thankful for.
I recently took part in a super meaningful Twitter Party with Dancing Deer Baking Co. where we chatted about ways to show gratitude. It was awesome.
The low down from our chat was this: it feels so good to give, no matter what. Giving gratitude makes you happy. You can show gratitude spontaneously or plan gifts in advance. Showing appreciation for people can really do wonders -the tiniest gestures can really make a difference in someone’s day, week or year. The hardest people to say thank you to, the ones who are always there for you, your rocks — how do you thank them for being in your life? Who’s the hardest person in your life to thank?
For me, it’d be my Mom. She’s always there. Always helping. If I call her, she listens. If I’m going on a trip, she watches the kids, no questions asked. She gives selflessly, always. She has a heart of gold and can turn any bad day into a good one with her infectious smile and laughter. She’s my person. I can count on her for anything.
Who’s your person?
